Facebook is giving your LGS a great way to reach new customers.
WiFi is pretty ubiquitous at this point, it’s almost a guarantee that your business has an internet connection and there’s a very good chance that it’s set up on a wireless network.
Instead of going through the standard hassle of setting up and sharing passwords, your customers can just check in on your Facebook page to get access to your WiFi network.
There is a lot to like about this.
The first reason is that it’s a nice, elegant solution to a somewhat annoying situation. Have you ever tried to tell a customer your store’s 16 random character password?
It’s not easy.
The second reason is that it’s a big win for your business. Every time a customer checks in to your Facebook page, you’re encouraging them to like your page while they’re there. The more likes your Facebook page has, the more organic reach you have on the platform. Another bonus to the check in process is that it then gets shared on their friend’s news feed as a story, thus increasing your business’s exposure to an even wider audience.
The third reason is that every check in will help your LGS get found by new customers. Your ranking in Facebook search results and the Nearby tab on mobile goes up, which makes it more likely new customers will visit your LGS instead of your competitor’s.
How to use Facebook WiFi
The easiest way to make use of this new technique is to check if your existing WiFi router is one of the brands on the below list:
- Meraki: Launch your wireless router’s admin console and select Sign on with Facebook in the Splash Page section.
- Cisco: Log into your Connect & Engage dashboard from the Cisco Mobility Service Engine 8.0 and select Facebook Wi-Fi on the menu.
- NETGEAR: Visit www.routerlogin.net and click the Advanced tab. Then, click Facebook Wi-Fi > Configure.
- D-Link: Visit D-Link and click the Setup tab > Guest Zone. Check the boxes Enable Guest Zones and Enable Facebook Wi-Fi.
- Open-Mesh: Log in to your network at CloudTrax.com and select Facebook Wi-Fi in the SSID #1 Splash Page section.
- Aruba: Select Facebook Wi-Fi for sign-on, then set the session length and terms of service.
- Intelbras: Visit the IP address provided in your manual, then start the install wizard and select Facebook for Wi-Fi access.
- Ruckus Wireless: Log into ZoneDirector. Click Configure > WLANs > Create WLAN > for WLAN Type, select Social Media > for Social Media Login, select Facebook.
- ASUS: Log into the web GUI. Select Guest Network > Facebook Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi.
If you’ve got a compatible router, all you have to do is follow the steps and enable Facebook WiFi. If your router isn’t capable of working with Facebook WiFi, you can always contact your internet provider and ask them to upgrade to a compatible router.
Check out Facebook’s FAQ page to learn more about the process.
Once your WiFi is set up to work with Facebook, the only thing left is to let your customer’s know and start accumulating likes.
